Pet Food Bank
How It Works:
We provide an emergency pet food parcel to cat and dog owners who may be struggling financially and are in receipt of benefits. Our pet food parcels include a small amount of wet and dry food to help them get through the week.
By providing pet food to owners who may be struggling, we are helping to reduce the amount of animals being signed over to rescue centres, meaning we can prioritise other animals in need.
Our pet food bank is made up from donations of food given directly to us, either from members of the public or local businesses.
How To Attend:
Our onsite Pet Food Bank runs every day between 11am and 3pm at Ashford Garden Cattery, with our Pop-Up Pet Food Bank currently based at Charing Parish Hall every Wednesday between 10am and 12pm.
If you need any emergency pet food parcels you can collect one once a week from the site closest to you.
We provide food for cats and dogs, but may occasionally have other items such as hamster/rabbit food, however we can't guarantee this will be available, so please call ahead.
You will need to be in our district to qualify to receive pet food from us. If you are from another district, you will need to seek assistance from services in your local area.
Each parcel contains enough food for emergencies and to help you through around 4 days. Brands may vary as this depends on what is donated, we are therefore unable to provide specialist foods or certain brands.
We sometimes have cat litter and treats available if you ask.
We cannot support the adoption or purchasing of any new pets during the time you attend our pet food bank. We do not suggest taking on any more animals if you are struggling to afford your current pets, so will be unable to provide food for these animals.
In order to be fair, and ensure that we help as many people as possible, we are unable to provide excessive amounts of food to homes with multiple pets, we will only be able to provide for up to 3 cats or dogs per home.
