Volunteer For Us
helping RSPCA Kent, Tenterden, Ashford & District Branch

Please note: we are currently in need of fundraising volunteers. Without our fundraising team, we simply wouldn't be able to run. It is vital we find more generous people to help. Fundraising is a very flexible volunteering role, suitable for even the busiest of people. Please scroll to view our fundraising role.

Volunteering In The Cattery:  We have an amazing team of volunteers who help in our Ashford Garden Cattery. Every morning at 8am our volunteers come in to clean the cat pods, preventing the spread of disease, maintaining good standards of hygiene and reporting any abnormalities to staff (whilst also having a little cuddle as you clean!).  Cleaning tends to take under 2 hours, with the option to have a cuppa, biscuit and a natter after.   Every afternoon from 1pm our socialising volunteers come in. This isn't just cuddling cats! Our socialising volunteers are patient and dedicate time to all of the cats in our rescue, from patiently working with nervous cats to encouraging exercise in less mobile cats. They then report back to staff with any progress or concerns.  Of course again having a lovely cuppa, chat and biscuits after!   Please note due to insurance purposes, we are unable to take on any volunteers under the age of 18.

Volunteering For Fundraising:

We have a wide variety of volunteer fundraising positions with less of a commitment. We have regular open days to raise money at our Ashford Garden Cattery where we are always in need of extra helping hands to set up stalls and run games, meaning you can help just by sparing a couple of hours once a month or so.

We also have an amazing Fundraising Committee who meet to discuss ideas and plan events once a month on a Tuesday evening. Or if you are less social, we have a fundraising Facebook group to share ideas.

We always need people to reach out in our local community, asking businesses and shops if we can set up donation tins, pet food bank collections or even reaching out for prizes to go towards our events.

If you have a couple hours you could spare once a week, why not apply to help us sell items through our ebay account or Vinted?

There are so many different ways you can volunteer to help us with our fundraising.

Did you know, we are an independent branch of the main RSPCA, this means we get all of our money through fundraising. It is such an important job to do, as without fundraising we simply wouldn't exist.

Please note due to insurance purposes, we are unable to take on any volunteers under the age of 18.

Our amazing Charity Shop is on Church Road in Willesborough, full of many great finds and bargains.  Our shop is run by a dedicated team of volunteers, raising money for our Ashford Garden Cattery, we simply would not be able to offer the services we do without the income from our little shop.  There's always plenty to do in our charity shop including pricing up items, creating displays, working on the till, customer service, sorting through donations and steaming clothes.  Our shop has a friendly welcoming atmosphere with a dedicated team. Would you like to be part of it?  Please note due to insurance purposes, we are unable to take on any volunteers under the age of 18.
